Pursuant to the decision of the State University of Physical Education and Sports Senate No.7 of 10.02.2009, as well as following the acceptance submitted by the Ministry of Education and Youth No. 03 / 14- 2152 of 09.03.2009, within the “Protection, Guard And Security“ Faculty, the subdivision was established: Chair “Law of protection, guard and security”. The last one was later divided into the Chair of "Protection, Guard and Security" and "Law" Chair.
The “Protection, Guard and Security” Chair was founded based on the State University of Physical Education and Sports Senate Decision of 31.05.2011, of letter No. 03 / 14-5453 of 08.07.2011 of the Ministry of Education and of the Order of the rector of State University of Physical Education and Sports No. 69 of 01.08.2011.
At present, the Chair of "Protection, Guard and Security" activity is based on: the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova, the Education Code of the Republic of Moldova no. 152 of 17.07.2014, Government Decision no. 983 of 22.12.2012 "On the functioning of state higher education institutions in conditions of financial autonomy", Framework Plan for higher education (cycle I - Bachelor, cycle II - Masters, integrated studies, cycle III - Doctorate) approved by the Order of the Minister of Education no. 120 of February 10, 2020 ; Regulation on the organization of studies in higher education based on the National System of Study Credits, approved by the order of the Minister of Education no. 1046 of October 29, 2015; The nomenclature of fields of professional training and specialties in higher education, approved by Government Decision no. 482 of 28/07/2017, approved by SUPES Senate Chairman no.7 of 11.05.2020 and coordinated with the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research (No. 04 / 1-09 / 3115) of June 18, 2020 and other normative acts.
The Chair provides training for highly qualified specialists with knowledge and expertise in the field of protection, guard and security of enterprises, organizations, institutions, businesses, able to perceive and assess threats and risks to their interests and objectives, heritage, staff, intellectual potential and trade secrets, to take appropriate measures of protection, guard and security, in order to prevent and combat possible dangers.
The activity of the Chair of "Protection, Guard and Security" targets all those who wish to work or are active in institutions in the field of security and public order, including the Ministry of Internal Affairs; Intelligence and Security Service; National Administration of Penitentiaries; Guard, Protection and Security Service; General police inspector; Customs Service; SMURD-Moldova, as well as companies / enterprises / institutions in the public or private domain, which contain subdivisions meant to ensure security, guard, protection, including firefighting and rescue work. Graduates of the first cycle of studies of the programs carried out by the department (holders of bachelor's degrees) are offered the opportunity to continue their studies at the Faculty of Protection, Guard and Security in the second cycle - master's degree, as well as in other university centers in the country and abroad. .
The training, educational and research activity in the general field of studies of Security Services is carried out by the staff of the Chair “Guard, protection and security” at the following study programs:
Cycle I:
Civil and public security (part-time frequency);
• Rescuers and firefighters (full-time frequency);
• Property Security Services (full-time frequency).

Cycle II:
Security, people and property management program
Currently, the Chair Protection, guard and security ensures teaching specialty "Civil security and public" 14 courses (subjects and modules) of the 38 stipulated in the learning cycle, which is about 37% for specialty services property security - 13 courses (disciplines and modules) out of the 38 provided in the curriculum for the first cycle, which is about 34%.
In the second cycle, the teachers of the Chair of Protection, Guard and Security ensure the teaching of 11 courses (disciplines and modules) out of the 16 provided in the curriculum in the second cycle, these being systematized in: fundamental disciplines (3) and specialized disciplines (8).
For the specialty Rescuers and Firefighters the teachers of the department teach 21 courses (disciplines and modules) out of the 37 provided in the curriculum for the first cycle, which is about 57%. These disciplines and modules of different character are systematized in several categories, such as: fundamental disciplines (11), disciplines of socio-humanistic orientation (3), specialization disciplines and others (10).
The chair has three scientific laboratories:
1) The scientific laboratory in the field of shooting instruction and special tactics. Responsible - A. Vișnevschi, assistant university.
2) Forensic scientific laboratory. Responsible - M.Gheorghiță, PhD - university professor.
3) Rescue and Fire Laboratory. Responsible - I. Rotaru, PhD , associate professor.
The specifics of the training, educational and research activity arising from the content of the study programs in the general field of study Conventional Security Services can be divided into:
a. furniture;
b. special clothing for ensuring public order (with SUPES badge);
c. weapons and ammunition (Baical pistols - 442, Beretta - 87, CZ-75, cartridges, shooting mattresses, leather belts, etc.);
d. fire-fighting equipment and clothing (motor pumps, portable fire extinguishers, fire rifles, stretchers etc.);
e. special equipment and machinery (radio connectors, alarm equipment, video surveillance, rubber sticks, handcuffs etc.)
f. information technology equipment (computers, projectors, cameras / video, note-book, printer, scanner etc.);
There are 16 highly qualified lecturers working at the chair, including:
1) Cușnir Valeriu, dr. habil., university professor - Investigations in the activity of security agent; The law of investigations; Prevention and combating of crimes in the field of protection, guard and security; Information technology security management.
2) Gheorghiță Mihai, dr. habil., university professor.- Forensics; Forensic methodology; Economic security;
3) Armeanic Alexandru PhD, associate professor -Ensuring the economic activity of the protection and security enterprise; Information technology security; Private security management; Border security management; Financial management.
4) Chimerciuc Nicolae, PhD, associate professor - Basics of shooting instruction; Fire front training; Managerial aspects in firearms management.
5) Cazac Oleg, PhD, associate professor. –Engineering networks in fire services.
6) Nastas Andrei, PhD, asscociate professor - Technical means in PGS;Human resources in PGS; Security and public order management; Applied psychology in the field of security.
7) Rotaru Ion, PhD, associate professor. - Thermotechnics, appliances and technical networks.
8) Boeșteanu Constantin, PhD, associate professor. - Risk and crisis management; Bodyguard.

The didactic and research directions of the department aim at the theoretical-methodological bases of the professional training of the specialists in the following fields:
• Civil security and public order,
• Property security services;
• Rescuers and Firefighters.
The Department of Protection, Guard and Security collaborates intensively with the structures of public and private authorities in the field, organizing and conducting training courses, round tables, seminars and scientific conferences.
Since its establishment, more than 200 scientific, methodical and didactic works have been elaborated at the Chair of Protection, Guard and Security. In the same time, more than 10 teachers obtained scientific and scientific-didactic titles of doctor, dr. habil., associate professor and university professor.
