The Law Chair is a didactic-scientific and administrative subdivision of the State University of Physical Education and Sports that operates based on the provisions of the legislation in force, the Statute of Regulations, instructions, orders and decisions issued by the Ministry of Education and Youth of the Republic of Moldova, decisions of the Senate of the State University of Physical Education and Sports.
Based on the decision of the Senate of the State University of Physical Education and Sports, the agreement of the Ministry of Education and Youth of the Republic of Moldova no. 03 / 14-2152 of 09.03.2009 and of the order of the Rector of State University of Physical Education and Sports no. 31 of March 16, 2009, the Chair of Protection, Guard and Security Law was founded. Subsequently, it was reorganized, by the decision of the State University of Physical Education and Sports Senate (minutes no. 6 of 31.05.2011), letter no. 03 / 14-5453 of 08.07.2011 of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Moldova and by order of the Rector of SUPES no. 69 of August 1, 2011, being called the Chair of Law.
The mission of the Chair of Law is to train professional specialists in the field of law by providing quality studies, young generations by combining education, research, education, to contribute to improving the human intellectual potential of the country.
Starting with 2017, the department is led by Mr. Manolachi Victor dr. habil., university professor, who along other members of the department, ensures the instructive-didactic and educational process of high professional performance. Of which about 75% of teachers hold degrees and scientific titles of PhD, dr. habil., associate professors.
The objectives of the Chair of Law, as a university structure, consist in:
- multilateral training of future specialists in the field of security services, in particular through the cultivation of knowledge in the legal disciplines taught, skills that will allow them to subsequently integrate without difficulty into professional activity;
- training of highly qualified specialists;
- the acquisition by students of knowledge, skills and abilities corresponding to the current stage of development of legal sciences in order to ensure employment prospects on the labor market;
The Chair of Law has a scientific-methodical laboratory, in which various scientific research activities are organized and carried out, in order to improve the training process of students and teachers in the field of law.
Within the department, 17 highly qualified teachers carry out their didactic-methodical and scientific activity, which ensures the teaching of the following theoretical disciplines, at the first and second cycles of studies:

3. Baltag Dumitru, dr. habil., university professor.- General theory of state and law; Epistemology and methodology of security research.
4. Buguța Elena, PhD, associate professor - International criminal cooperation; Criminal law, Contractual relations in the field of protection, guard and security.
5. Briceac Andrei, university assistant - Criminal law (I).

Currently, the Chair of Law ensures the teaching of 16 courses (disciplines and modules) in the Bachelor Cycle, which is about 35%, for the specialties: ”Civil and public security", "Property security services and 5 courses at the master's program ”Management Security of person and property” . These disciplines and modules of different character are systematized in several categories, such as: fundamental disciplines - 7; disciplines of socio – humanistic orientation - 1; specialization disciplines – 13. In the second cycle- masters -the staff of the Law Chair also teach 5 courses, of which basic subjects - 3 and specialized subjects - 2.

Methodical scientifical activity in the Chair of Law is performed in accordance with the current exigencies, including the provisions of the Bologna process. Thus, university curriculum, subject sheets and other necessary materials are elaborated for each discipline.
The research direction of the department is “Educational and legal aspects in the field of security services”, which also includes the research topic “Legal training of specialists who ensure the protection of persons and property”.
The Chair of Law collaborates intensively with state and private structures in the respective field, organizing and conducting training and retraining courses, round tables, seminars and scientific conferences.
Chair of Law (from the foundation of 2009 up to 2021) has an extensive scientific activity, more than 500 scientific and methodical papers (30 methodical works, 22 monographs, 20 manuals, patents 24, 35 scientific papers have been published abroad). In the same time, more than 10 teachers obtained scientific and scientific-didactic titles of doctor, dr. habil., associate professor and university professor.
The staff of the chair is involved in other activities and occupations such as: lawyer, notary, scientific coordinator of the PhD thesis, expert in the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Education and Research , members of the editorial board of scientific journals, legal advisers in the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights, ECHR lawyers, trainers at the National Institute of Justice, external monitors to monitor lawyers providing state-guaranteed legal assistance.
