ACADEMIC DEVELOPMENT AND INSTRUCTIONAL QUALITY

Academic development implies a series of trends, actions and activities that would provide a high-quality instruction of the future specialists and it also focuses on the first-rate professional training of the students. In the process of initiation and development of new courses and programs at all education levels: Licentiate, Master's, Doctoral, Postdoctoral, the academic development implies the following aspects:
- transformation of lifelong learning into a contemporary social practice at the level of each university subdivision;
- promotion of the learning based on education, projects and teamwork;
- development of partnerships with pre-university institutions, promotion of the SUPES image and sports education principles within these institutions;
- development of academic and scientific mobility programs for our students and pedagogical staff;
- formation of consortia for taking common actions like academic and sports activities.
To achieve these objectives a special emphasis is placed on:
- strengthening the status of the State University of Physical Education and Sport and making the part of Master's degree and Doctoral education prevail there.
- continuous curricula adaption to the modern labor market requirements;
- initiation and development of new educational programs, internship programs that can be passed at different sports organizations, specialized educational institutions and economic agents that are standards of best practice in the area of physical culture and sport;
- encouraging students to take part in national and international professional competitions;
- creating conditions for quality growth of the specialized university education and scientific research activity in our university;
- monitoring and compliance with the criteria and national performance standards created for exanimation of the educational programs in order to compete well in the process of universities ranking;
- examination of existing Master's Degree programs and development of integrated/interdisciplinary educational programs;
- stimulating the educational process at Master's degree courses by developing and implementing research components;
- inclusion of recent scientific data in the educational process;
- development of monitoring mechanisms that would help to trace the graduates' career-related issues and their development on the labor market and curricula adaption to the dynamics and requirements of the modern occupational fields.
These aspects successfully contribute to the achievement of the goals like academic development which in its turn is one of the basic strategies of the State University of Physical Education and Sport.
Instructional quality. It is mentioned in the Education Code of the Republic of Moldova that one of the most important aspects of the educational process reform in higher education is the professional skills qualitative development of the students’- future specialists’, including in the area of physical culture.
From this perspective, special importance is given to the teaching and educational process at the State University of Physical Education and Sport, which is based on good didactic planning and carrying out important and current tasks of the process of highly qualified specialists training and preparing them to work under tough conditions.
In turn, implementation of the Institutional Development Strategy (2021-2025) involves a consistent focus of pedagogical efforts on methodical and organizational quality assurance of the students’ professional training at every faculty and therefore every specialty.
Monitoring and coherence of the quality educational process at SUPES are reflected in the organizational chart approved by the University Senate. The educational process at SUPES is effectively and promptly managed by the Quality Management Department. In order to solve the issues qualitatively and improve the quality of the students' knowledge, qualified staff with high professional and academic experience have been involved in the activity of the Department.
The specific aspects of the educational process monitoring and quality control at SUPES are successfully performed by the Chairmen of the Faculties Boards: Mocrousov Elena – Dr. habil, assoc. prof.; Onoi Mihai – PhD, assoc. prof.; Racu Serghei- PhD, assoc. prof.; Nastas Andrei – PhD, assoc. prof. A special role is played by the Quality Council that systematically provides feedback between the didactic planning of the educational process and the specific situation at the level of SUPES Chairs.
Thus, structural optimization and organization of the academic subdivisions work through quality assurance of our first and second cycle students education contributes to solving the teaching and educational issues as required by the Education Code of the Republic of Moldova and present time realities.
The quality assurance strategies at SUPES are oriented to:
• orientation towards meeting the requirements and expectations of students, employers and other interested parties;
• institution management’s proactive attitude towards quality issues, which is expressed by creating an environment that would be motivating for producing new achievements in the university’s activity;
• addressing the quality issue in strategic terms: mission, values, principles, policies, strategies, objectives;
• control and continuous improvement of the institution processes;
• staff involvement and greater responsibility;
• identification of relevant quality indicators and introduction of internal review mechanisms;
• system documentation for providing objective and trustworthy evidence;
• comparative analysis with other universities, including the ones from abroad, to identify and adopt the best quality assurance practices;
• special training for the staff engaged in quality-related activities and general training- for all staff.
