The emergence and evolution of the Chair is closely related to the development of the Theory and Methodology of Physical Education as a fundamental discipline in the training system of specialists in physical education institutions in most ex-Soviet and East Europe countries, including the Republic of Moldova, since the beginning of 20th century. For the existence and development of the field it was necessary to develop two fundamental problems: the training of professional staff and the creation of the methodological, technological, scientific-didactic base and the technical-material one for the development of the educational process.
